At present, the domestic high-performance resin, high-performance synthetic rubber, high-performance fiber, functional membrane materials and electronic chemicals and other new materials are far from meeting the market demand. The supply is short and the overall guarantee capacity is insufficient. The domestic output value is only 400 billion yuan, while the market demand is 1 trillion yuan, and the products of 600 billion yuan still need to be imported.

"Market gap provides huge development space and market potential. It is estimated that by 2025, the annual growth rate of new chemical materials and high-end special chemicals in China will be about 8%, while the annual growth rate of consumption of most general chemical products will be only about 4%. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, the development direction of new chemical material industry should aim at improving the quality level of existing products, accelerating the industrialization process of blank products, breaking through the bottleneck of key raw material supply in the upstream, extending the development of downstream high-end products and application promotion.
